After Kuala Lumpur, Bhubaneshwar to be connected to Bangkok, Singapore

After Kuala Lumpur, Odisha hope to connect Bhubaneshwar, with direct flights, to Bangkok or Singapore. The Biju Patnaik International Airport saw the arrival of the first direct commercial international flight - the AirAsia AK31 from Kuala Lumpur - late on Wednesday night. The new international flight to the Malaysion capital city fights right in with the department's larger plans, such as the proposed Buddhist circuit, said Principal Secretary Arti Ahuja. We are in discussion with AirAsia India the possibility of connecting Bhubaneshwar to Varanasi, Bodhgaya as part of a Budhist-Hindu heritage circuit for tourists. This is also an opportunity for us to attract investment in Odisha's hospitality sector which should attract greater interest with the incentives offered under our new tourism policy, said Ahuja Courtesy: The Economic Times
