India Govenment clears civil aviation policy

The Indian Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared the draft civil aviation policy scrapping the 5/20 rule for airlines with 0/20 rule. According to the 5/20 rule, an airline needs to have 20 carriers and be operational in India for five years in order to fly overseas. "The new policy's objective is to make flying affordable and enhance regional connectivity," Aviation Secretary R N Chaubey told reporters here.
